On behalf of the International Phytotechnology Society (IPS), we would like to invite you to the 15th International Phytotechnology Conference to be held at University of Novi Sad, Central building, located in the Novi Sad, Serbia, October 1-5, 2018.
Since 2004, the IPS conferences have been an opportunity for research scientists, engineers, industrials and practitioners from all over the world to present recent advances in the field of phytotechnologies. Phytotechnologies represent a set of strategic uses of plants and their associated microorganisms to address environmental issues. Original contributions will be presented in plenaries, parallel sessions on dedicated specific topics as well as poster sessions.
The 15th International Phytotechnology Conference will coincide with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment at the University of Novi Sad. Conference participants will learn about the Institute’s history and research results, as well as have the opportunity to network with Institute scientists and others from Serbia and neighboring countries.
The conference will be organized at the University of Novi Sad, Central Building (www.uns.ac.rs/index.php/en/) (N 45°14'50.82"; E 19°51'12.82”) which has one main conference room for plenary sessions, three meeting rooms for concurrent sessions, two exhibition spaces for posters and coffee breaks, and a canteen. All meeting rooms are equipped with computers and other presentation equipment.

The University of Novi Sad, with more than 50,000 students and 5,000 employees, is one of the largest educational and research centers in Central Europe. It belongs to the group of comprehensive universities, which are characterized by providing nearly all fields of science and higher education. The University of Novi Sad offers around 400 accredited study programs at the Bachelor, Master, Specialist and Doctoral levels, carried out at its Faculties and within its Centers for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies. The study programs are modern and up-to-date with the latest developments in science and research. Along with the Faculties and Centers, three Scientific Institutes have a significant role in creating a solid scientific base for the process of continuous modernization of educational opportunities.

About the Conference Host
The Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment was established by the Parliament of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in 1958 under the title, The Poplar Institute. During its existence, the Institute changed its title several times: the Poplar Research Institute, the Institute for the Research of Poplars and Non-forest Greenery, IRC Institute of Lowland Forestry and Non-forest Greenery. Since October 2006, the Institute was named the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment. The activities of the Institute are basic, developmental, and applied research, directed to the demands of the users of the research results. The Institute has realized numerous projects related to the enhancement of lowland woody species (poplars, willows, black locust, common oak, wild cherry, valuable broadleaves) in the area of Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republics, projects of establishment of protective greenery, forest management plans, and rehabilitation of degraded lands, with examples from the latter being showcased at the conference. Numerous international projects are successfully realized with partners from USA and Italy.
Novi Sad can be reached in many ways: by plane, by train or by car.
By plane –Arrival to the Belgrade Nikola Tesla International Airport (BEG) and then transfer by taxi or bus to Novi Sad (~50 minutes). The Organizer will help arrange transportation for each participant from the airport to the hotels).
By train –Take the train from Vienna, Austria (8 hours) or Budapest, Hungary (3 hours) in the direction of Belgrade and get off in Novi Sad. The Organizer will establish an information desk at the train station in Novi Sad.
By car – Novi Sad is easily accessible from Central and East European countries, Italy and Greece. It is located on the international E-75 route and connected with E-70 route via Belgrade.

There are many hotels in Novi Sad from which the conference venue is easily accessible either by foot, or by local transport (bus) in 10-20 minutes

The hotel prices range from 30-70 EUR per night.
Participants should make reservations on their own. It is strongly recommended to make reservations on time, due to the possibility of other events in the same period in Novi Sad.
The lunches during conference will be organized in the Central building which has a canteen/restaurant. Also, there are numerous restaurants with excellent food and entertainment near the University of Novi Sad and in the city downtown (15-minute walk).
About Novi Sad
Novi Sad is the largest city of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the northern province of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the seat of provincial authorities and the administrative center of the South Backa District. The city is located on the border of Backa and Srem, on the banks of the Danube and the Great Backa Canal, the Pannonian plain and the northern slopes of Fruska Gora. There are numerous cultural and geological areas in and surrounding Novi Sad that will be very interesting to conference participants. In addition to unique Pannonian lowland ecosystems near the Danube River, there is Mt Fruška Gora, the Petrovaradin Fortress, and many monasteries.
